Gator Bowl Sales - Good? Bad? Unknown?

According to an email I just got from Virginia Athletics Director Craig Littlepage, Virginia fans have officially* purchased 8451 tickets to the 2008 Konica Minolta Gator Bowl. My underused math skills tell me that we are 5049 tickets short of our 13,500 ticket allotment.

What does that mean? Frankly, I'm not sure. I've heard every excuse under the sun for why people aren't going. My group of people that took 25+ to each of the Tire Bowls and the Music City Bowl is only managing around 15. But is it really that bad?

I doubt that the #s are going to stop there. We'll sell more than that. I have one friend who is buying a ticket sometime this week - he just missed the deadline to buy with us.

We'll just have to wait and see how much, if at all, this hurts our "travel rep." I think we'll know more come Christmas when most peoples plans are completely finalized and more tickets have been purchased

* - This only counts tickets purchased through UVA that count towards our numbers. Apparently some portion of ticketmaster, etc. sales will be credited to UVA based on zip code or something, but i don't know what the details are on that so I won't comment on it further.
