Nine Inch Nails Releases Ghosts I-IV
4 new albums! Or is it 2? Or... I'm confused.
Regardless, Trent Reznor announced on Sunday that Nine Inch Nails was releasing, via the internet, 36 new instrumental tracks under the names Ghosts I-IV (the I-IV being what made me think 4 albums of 9 songs).
They're making this available in 5 different ways
- You can download 9 tracks from their website absolutely free. No DRM either. They've already been uploaded to The Pirate Bay as well.
- You can pay $5 to download the entire 36 track collection. No DRM on this option either.
- You can pay $10 to get the 2CD set (the 2CD part of this being why I thought maybe 2 albums of 18 songs). You also get the downloads you would have gotten with the $5 option.
- $75 for the Deluxe option gives you "hardcover fabric slipcase containing: 2 audio CDs, 1 data DVD with all 36 tracks in multi-track format, and a Blu-ray disc with Ghosts I-IV in high-definition 96/24 stereo and accompanying slideshow." I'm assuming you also get the download.
- $300, the top option gives you "Includes everything in the Deluxe Edition Package, along with an exclusive four-LP 180 gram vinyl set in a fabric slipcase, and two exclusive limited edition Giclee prints in a luxurious package. Limited to 2500 pieces, numbered and signed by Trent Reznor."
Holy cow. This came as a total surprise to just about everyone. The album isn't actually due out until April, but we can listen online now and the downloads should be available as soon as their servers recover from the overwhelming response they received from the announcement.
I'm waiting for my email with the download links, but I'm listening online.
Wow. I'm stunned.
